European buyers work from a two-standard system: EN for delivery conditions and inspection documents, ASME or ASTM where the design is code-governed or the purchase specification names an ASTM grade. We quote both where they apply, and we say which governs which document.
The grades we are asked for most often, and the service environment behind each of them.
The classic European corrosion case. C-276, C-22, B-2 and B-3 for hydrochloric and mixed acid service, quoted with the EN delivery conditions and the inspection certificate type you require.
EN 10302 creep-resisting grades and the nickel alloys used in boiler and superheater service, with the elevated-temperature properties reported.
625 and 825 for sour and chloride-bearing duty, and the bar and forging grades for valves, flanges and wellhead equipment.
Monel 400 and the nickel alloys used in seawater systems, with A 484 dimensional tolerance applied where the drawing asks for it.
EN 10095 heat-resisting grades for furnace internals, radiant tubes and heat-treatment fixtures.
We quote to the standard on your purchase order. Where two standards apply — one for the material, one for the inspection document — the quotation states which governs which.
| Standard | What it covers |
|---|---|
| EN 10095 | Heat resisting steels and nickel alloys, supplied as sheet, plate, strip and bar |
| EN 10302 | Creep resisting steels, nickel and cobalt alloys. Covers hot and cold rolled sheet, plate and strip, cold drawn bar, rod, wire and sections. Note that it is not to be used for aerospace or pressure purposes. |
| EN 10204 | Types of inspection document. Type 3.1 is issued by us; Type 3.2 is countersigned by an independent inspector. |
| EN 10021 | General technical delivery conditions for steel products |
| EN 10088-2 and EN 10088-3 | Stainless steel flat products, and bar, rod and section |
| EN ISO 6892-1 | Tensile testing at ambient temperature |
| EN ISO 6509 | Vickers hardness testing |
| PED 2014/68/EU | Pressure Equipment Directive, where the application is pressure equipment |
| A 240, A 276, A 480, A 484 | The ASTM references accepted on European purchase orders as the material specification |
| SB 165, SB 167, SB 407, SB 444, SB 622 | ASME counterparts, where the design is code-governed |
The paperwork is quoted before the order is placed, not assembled afterwards. A 3.2 certificate in particular has to be arranged before manufacturing, because it needs a second party present.
Three checks catch most problems, and all three are yours to make:
State the term and the destination port in your enquiry and we will quote against it. We do not add a surcharge later.
The usual starting point for European orders. You take the container at the terminal and book the onward move.
We quote sea freight and minimum insurance to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Felixstowe, Le Havre or the port you name.
Delivered on the term you require. We quote DDP only where the import arrangement and the duty position are clear.
Available for small, urgent or sample quantities.
The grades our customers in Europe order most often, taken from the standards listed above. Every one links to its full composition, mechanical data and supply forms.
Yes, and to Norway, Switzerland and Iceland. The material specification is what matters to us; the destination is handled through the trade term and the export documents.
Yes. EN 10095 covers heat-resisting steels and nickel alloys in sheet, plate, strip and bar. EN 10302 covers creep-resisting nickel and cobalt alloys and is not to be used for aerospace or pressure purposes, so if your service is pressure work we will confirm which standard actually applies before we quote.
It can be, but it has to be arranged. A 3.2 needs a second party present, so the validating body, the notification period and the witnessed tests go into the inspection and test plan before manufacture starts. Tell us at enquiry stage and we will build it into the quotation.
Grade, form, dimensions, quantity, application and required delivery date. Add the standard and the certificate type you need, and any drawing or specification you are working to. That is enough for us to quote and for you to compare.
